BREE TANNER Raises $1.5 Million For Red Cross

bree tanner by stephenie meyerStephenie Meyer and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers have harnessed the popularity of the bloodsucking vampires in Meyer’s Twilight universe to raise money for the Red Cross. They pledged one dollar to the American Red Cross for each copy of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella sold in the US. Yesterday, they presented the Red Cross with a check for $1.5 million.

“I’m so grateful that Little, Brown, the American Red Cross, and my fans made this generous gift possible,” said Stephenie Meyer. “It’s amazing to have the opportunity to help those so greatly in need.”

“We’ve had the incredible great fortune to have one of the biggest publishing phenomenons in recent years along with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner becoming one of the top selling titles of 2010,” said Hachette Book Group CEO David Young. “Giving back is extremely important to the company, so it is particularly gratifying to be able to share our success with an organization as worthy as The American Red Cross.”

The donation will go to the Red Cross’ International Response Fund, which is instrumental in their ability to respond to humanitarian missions, like the relief effort after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Visit www.redcross.org for more information.

GQ: So what’s life been like post Twilight?

XS: It’s been kind of cool actually, I’ve been hanging around in Berlin. I skipped off and did a film over there.

GQ: Was that Anonymous?

XS: Yeah. And I’ve spent a bit more time in LA and New York as well. So I’ve just been kind of enjoying it. We’ve skipped off to all these cities for the publicity for the film.

GQ: Were you caught up in the Twilight madness to the same extent as the main actors have been?

XS: Well, I certainly was not under the microscope in the same fashion that a lot of those guys were. I played the villain of the film, and they’ve been involved two films prior to that, so I kind of entered at a point when it was already severely popular. So it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind really, but a good one.

GQ: Does your girlfriend buy you clothes in the hope that you’ll wear them?

XS: Yeah, sometimes. She’s got a quite good fashion sense.

GQ: What kind of stuff is she into?

XS: I don’t know, it’s kind of a mystery to me, but she seems to mix and match all sorts of things and make it look good and still be herself.

GQ: Do you buy a lot of things when you go shopping?

XS: No, not particularly, it’s sort of just like a shirt here and there. But I’m kind of amazed by all the stuff that I have accumulated accidently.

GQ: What will you be rocking this summer?

XS: I don’t know. I’m not really a shorts kind of guy.

GQ: Do you think you look ridiculous in them?

XS: Yeah, I think I look ridiculous in shorts and I’ve also got these pale pasty legs that haven’t seen the sun in years, so I think it would be unkind to show the world my pasty legs.

GQ: So if it’s not shorts, what is it you love to wear?

XS: It’s always cool to go to those retro secondhand stores, they’ve always got great T-shirts and jeans.

Water For Elephants Official Movie Trailer

Here it is, the trailer all Robert Pattinson fans have been waiting for:

Xavier Samuel to Star in ‘A Few Best Men’!

According to Film Ink, Australian director Stephan Elliott (Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert; Welcome to Woop Woop; Easy Virtue) is set to direct a new comedy, A Few Best Men, which follows a groom and his three best men who travel to the Australian outback for a wedding.

While the details of the narrative are under wraps, the film sounds like it’s tracing similar territory to The Hangover, Todd Phillips’s smash hit about three groomsmen who lose their soon-to-be-wed best friend during a series of drunken misadventures in Las Vegas.

According to sources close to FILMINK, the comedy will feature rising local star Xavier Samuel as the British groom. Samuel was most recently seen on the big screen as a vampire in Twilight: Eclipse and as a tortured high school student in Sean Byrne’s horror film The Loved Ones. The actor’s currently shooting Bait on the Gold Coast and will next be seen in Roland Emmerich’s political thriller Anonymous.

Entertainment Weekly: Eclipse Commentary Article

EW.com has done an article on ther commentary with rob and kristen. Here is what EW had to say.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hit DVD and Blu-ray over the weekend, and the commentary track provided by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart is among the highlights. Listening to it, you realize two things: She really hated the wig she had to wear (her hair was still Joan Jett short from filming The Runaways), and this could be the longest you’ve ever heard them talk as themselves. She’s a lot looser than she was on the commentary for the first film, and he’s even more willing to comically question Bella’s and Edward’s motives. They laugh constantly — especially throughout their disagreements below about whether Bella should continue her friendship with Jacob even though she knows it upsets Edward. He may just have been pushing her buttons (had they been in the same city when recording the track, he would have been slapped, playfully, repeatedly), but he might also be on to something: Is there a double standard when it comes to women in relationships being able to have male friends but men in relationships not being able to have female friends?”
