The Twilight Examiner has reported that Bill Condon will be the director for Breaking Dawn:

After countless months of speculation regarding who would helm The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Summit Entertainment has just announced that Bill Condon (Oscar-winning director of Dreamgirls, Kinsey, and Gods And Monsters) will indeed be the director.

Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions for Summit Entertainment, stated the following about the selection of Condon: “Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.”

Stephenie Meyer, too, positively weighed in on the choice: “I’m so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”

Finally, Bill Condon himself spoke up about being picked to helm the fourth film in the Twilight series. “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience,” he said.

The present status of the film is that Melissa Rosenberg is currently penning the screenplay, and Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer are set as producers for the picture. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are all set to reprise their center-stage roles for the film.

According to an article in the Herald Sun, Christian let slip that Breaking Dawn will begin filming in October. Here’s the article:

TWILIGHT fans, get ready to sink your teeth into this — Breaking Dawn, the last chapter in the movie saga, will start filming in October.

Christian Serratos, who plays Angela in the hit franchise, let that slip while in Melbourne yesterday.

Until now there has been no confirmation if the last instalment of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book series would be filmed.

It is thought the 754-page novel might be split into two feature films along the same lines as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with hopes New Moon director Chris Weitz will return to the helm.

While Serratos’s Eclipse co-stars Gil Birmingham, Daniel Cudmore and Booboo Stewart remained coy about the film’s start date, the actor and sometime model accidentally let the cat out of the bag.

“No word is out yet,” Stewart said, to which Serratos quickly replied “No, October.”

Birmingham, who plays Taylor Lautner’s father Jacob Black, quickly tried to cover up the blunder.

“We could tell you, but we’d have to kill you – like we will Christian,” he said.

The four Eclipse stars, who flew out today, have been in Australia for the Twilight convention held at Melbourne University on Sunday.

Serratos said she had got used to the Twilight mania.

“People say it is like Beatle-mania,” Serratos said.

“But after a while it becomes second nature, I mean it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the character you’re playing.”

Hollywood Life have posted:

We’ve been waiting for soooo long to see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart FINALLY make sweet, sweet love in the fourth and final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn, that it didn’t even occur to us that some people (re: parents) might not be so happy at the seductive content.

However, Peter Facinelli—who plays hot vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen—has made us see the error of our ways.

“I have a 12-year-old daughter [Luca Bella, whose mom is Jennie Garth]. She’s a fan and I’d want her not to feel left out or awkward,” Peter, 37, explained to HollywoodLife.com exclusively Jan. 16 at Lionsgate’s pre-Golden Globes party.

“Hopefully it’s a PG-13 type of situation,” he added. “I’m sure the producers and directors know what they want—and especially what they are doing—but I’m sure they don’t want to alienate fans.”

We like how Peter sees both sides here: he doesn’t want to destroy his daughter’s innocence, yet he wants the flick to remain pure for die-hard fans. His primary loyalty is to his family though, after all—family always comes first to this #1 Dad.
