It’s going to be another busy month here at ATM Central, there is so much going on and so much coming up in the next few months that this newsletter is probably going to read like a book! So go and grab a cuppa and sit back and relax while you read the all ATM news.

Anyway, let’s get in to it! How was your Mother’s Day? I hope you all had a lovely relaxing day with your family. I managed to get a little sleep in, breakfast in bed and some lovely little presents from my kids. My 11 year old daughter even made me an Edward bookmark which is very nice :)

Aussie Twilight Mums Newsletter - April 2010

Posted by Rachel | Aussie Twilight Mums, Newsletters | Saturday 17 April 2010 7:20 am

newsletter logo

Hi Aussie Twilight Mums,

Firstly I’d like to apologise for this newsletter being late! As you all know March was a very busy month here at ATM headquarters and I am still feeling the effects of it in the middle of April. I don’t think my 5 kids being on school holidays has helped me catch up with everything either, but being Mums you all know what that feels like and I’m sure you’ll forgive me :) You will right??? hehehee

Anyway, I hope you all had a very Happy Easter and I hope you got to relax a little and your family :) My plan for the Easter weekend was to lay around reading the Book of the Month and eating chocolate, that didn’t really happen, I ate the chocolate (must remember to dust off that exercise bike that’s hibernating in my garage) but didn’t get a chance to do much reading.

As I mentioned earlier, March was a busy month around here as we celebrated ATM’s 1st Birthday!!!!! I would really like to thank all the Mums that came to our Sydney lunch (especially those that travelled especially for it), it was wonderful to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones for the first time!

Also I’d like to say a big thank you to the wonderful Mum who bid on our Auction items, we raised just under $100 for each of our charities (Yay Mums!!) and I also want to congratulate the winners of our birthday celebration competitions! We were lucky enough to have some wonderful businesses donate prizes for us, but I’ll tell you more about them a little later :)

As always I would like to welcome our newest members to the forum!  I am so glad that all you wonderful women have found us here.

Please come in and introduce yourself if you haven’t done so already. If you are unsure how to go about using the forum check for your welcome message in the menu bar just under the forum header. It will give you some hints and tips on how to get started.

I have had some feedback from many members who have been upset about their membership being deleted due to inactivity on the forum. Many of these women have told me that they simply don’t have the time to participate in the forum but visit the website and look forward to getting these newsletters to keep them up to date with what is happening in the Twiworld! So for the moment I have decided to stop deleting inactive members. I will be looking in to a new newsletter system and will let you all know when it’s up and running.

March’s Book of the Month is:

Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson

undead-and-unwed-book-cover

Betsy Taylor—former model, newly unemployed secretary, 30, and still single—wakes up after being flattened by a small SUV in a tacky coffin wearing cheap knock-off shoes. Her mother is glad she is back, albeit as a vampire, but her stepmother is enraged that Betsy has reclaimed her designer-shoe collection. With a wealthy best friend and a newly acquired doctor pal who is not susceptible to her formidable allure, she sets out to right wrongs but is abducted by Nostro, a tacky 500-year-old vampire who rules the undead roost. It seems that Betsy is an anomaly: a vampire who doesn’t burn in sunlight, can fight the urge to feed, and is not repulsed by religious articles, all of which may make her the prophesied Queen of the Vampires. Teaming up with gorgeous vampire Eric Sinclair, who is in her opinion a major pervert, she takes on Nostro and his minions.

Undead and Unwed is available from our affiliates  The Book Depository and  Amazon

To be eligible to become a Guest Mum you need to have access to Skype and a microphone. Go to the Podcast Thread and register your interest and at the end of the month I will pick one lucky Mum using an online random number generator.

You can also send me audio messages and I will play them on the podcast. Simply record your message or ask us a question and email the audio file to me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com and I’ll play it on the next podcast.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for the podcast you can comment on the Podcast forum thread, PM me or email me. And don’t forget to leave us reviews in iTunes and comment on our Podpage cause we love the feedback!

This year ATMs are going to be helping out charities! Each month $2 from all tshirt sales, $1 from all other ATM merchandise sales and all profits from one special item will go to charity.

heartkids

This month I have chosen HeartKids NSW as our Charity of the Month.

Taken from their website:

HeartKids is a support group for families of children with heart disease. Their members offer their support to other families who are in crisis, providing opportunities to share common anxieties and challenges. They arrange, where possible, to meet with other families affected by the impact of life with a child with a cardiac condition and to create a ‘network of support’ for all families.

You can help support this charity by purchasing any of our ATM merchandise in February, purchasing a special charity ATM tee or clicking on the Donate button in the sidebar on the ATM website.

Can you believe that it’s February already? I have a feeling that this year is going to fly by!

Our 1st Birthday is getting closer and we need more input from the people interested in attending our Sydney function. You can join in the conversation on the party thread here, register your interest in attending here, and vote on what time of the day the party should be held!

For anyone that can’t make it to Sydney for our birthday, I’ll be having an online party in March. More details about that will be coming later in the  month :)

Hub Productions have announced another Twilight Convention on Saturday the 24th April in Sydney and Sunday the 25th April in Melbourne.

I will be at the Sydney Convention and would love to see you all there :)

headerbookclub

The Aussie Twilight Mums Book Club was a great success last month, with many Mums reading Fallen by Lauren Kate and discussing it in the forums.

I am now taking suggestions for March’s Book of the Month so please email me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com if you have a book in mind.

February’s Book of the Month is:

The Kingdom by Jennifer McBay Barry

Set in a mystical, yet modern-day, Ireland, The Kingdom tells the story of Rioghan and Lily; a man bored with existence and a girl afraid of truly living. Follow Rioghan as he finds a new reason to be, and Lily as she finds the courage to embrace her own future. Fall in love with each character, in spite of their shortcomings, as they find love in each other.

During their journey together, they meet several delightful characters; Ciaran, Aisling, and Frankie; who will teach them the meaning of unconditional love and trust. Rioghan and Lily will also discover that respecting their elders doesn’t mean being a doormat.

The lush Irish countryside provides a colorful and mysterious background. Specific points in Ireland’s turbulent history provide lessons to both Rioghan and Lily as they grow into the people each knows the other can be.

The Kingdom is currently only available through Amazon but I think you should be able to order it in through your local bookstore.

If you would like to take part in the Book Club, get yourself the book and head over to the Book Club thread on the forum!

Don’t forget to leave your questions for the author here. We are hoping that Jen will be able to join us in an upcoming Podcast to answer all your questions!

If you have any questions about the Book Club please email me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com or PM me in the forums.

Thank you to everyone who purchased merchandise and made donations last month, you have raised some much need funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

lukepriddisfoundation

This month I have chosen The Luke Priddis Foundation as our Charity of the Month.

Taken from their website:

“Luke and Holly Priddis established the Luke Priddis Foundation following the diagnosis of their third child Cooper as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Following Cooper’s diagnosis they became caught in a whirlwind of meetings, assessments, occupational therapy, speech therapy and early intervention.

Through searching for approriate intervention programs, it was found that there was a lack of services in the Western Sydney area.  Further to this, the services that were accessible struggled with a lack of funding, along with a lack of provisions suitable to provide appropriate intervention for children with ASD and other special needs.

The aim of the Luke Priddis Foundation is to maximise the services and opportunities available to Autistic and special needs children.”

Aussie Twilight Mums Newsletter - Jan 2010

Posted by Rachel | Newsletters | Monday 11 January 2010 8:52 pm

newsletter logo

Hi Aussie Twilight Mums,
Wow, can you believe that it is the New Year already??? The last year has flown by (I think I say that each year, but this time it has simply sped by quicker than ever!). I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and a fun New Years Eve and Day!

2009 was full of ups and downs for me and many of you. For me the ups were dominated by Aussie Twilight Mums and Twilight in general. I have made so many wonderful new friends and am so grateful for the friendship and support that my ATM’s have offered. I am looking forward to 2010 and very excited about my plans for ATMs. All will be revealed in the coming months :)

headerthanks

Before I go any further I would like to say a huge, huge thank you to all you wonderful woman for my Christmas Gift, I was blown away by your generosity and have put my Gift Card towards an iPod touch, which I am totally in love with :)

While we are on the topic of Christmas, I’d like to thank Lisa (Misty) and Tab (TaBBZZZ) for organising our Secret Santa for us! It was a huge success and I look forward to doing it all again next year :) Also thanks for organising the Christmas Card exchange, it was wonderful to get fun mail rather than bills at Christmas time! Thanks girls, you did a great job :)

Some of us Sydney Twilight Mums got together for a Christmas party just before Christmas. It was wonderful to get some Twi Mums and kids together, to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones.

headerwelcome

I’d like to welcome all our new members to the forum! At last count we had 277 members, it still blows me away that so many woman have found us :)

Please come in and  introduce yourself if you haven’t done so already. If you are unsure how to go about using the forum check for your welcome message in the menu bar just under the forum header. It will give you some hints and tips on how to get started.

I have gone through our member list and deleted all members that had not activated their accounts or haven’t been active within the last 60 days. I will be doing this every couple of months so please be sure to post every now and then to keep your membership active :)

I will be at the Sydney Convention and would love to see you all there :)

headerbookclub

The Aussie Twilight Mums Book Club is back, bigger and better than ever. We are going to run things a little differently this year though. Instead of getting everyone to vote on a book to read, which is time consuming and limits people time wise, I will take suggestions all month long and choose one book which will become our Book of the Month.

February’s Book of the Month has been picked, it is The Kingdom by Jennifer McBay Barry (you can read more about it on the forum) but if you have any suggestions for March’s Book of the Month please email me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com

January’s Book of the Month is:

Fallen by Lauren Kate

aussie twilight mums book of the month

What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours? 17-year-old Lucinda falls in love with a gorgeous, intelligent boy, Daniel, at her new school, the grim, foreboding Sword & Cross …only to find out that Daniel is a fallen angel, and that they have spent lifetimes finding and losing one another as good & evil forces plot to keep them apart. Some angels are destined to fall…

Get your copy from The Book Depository or Fishpond now and start reading!

I have started a new section within the forum especially for the Book Club. The threads are all there ready for you to leave your comments about the book. All I ask is that you keep your comments to the specific chapter threads otherwise you might spoil the book for others that haven’t read as much as you.

You’ll also notice a thread especially for your questions to the author. Each month I’ll send off everyone’s questions to the author and hopefully we’ll get a reply back :)

If you have any questions about the Book Club please email me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com or PM me in the forums.

The True Blood forum

The Vampire Diaries forum

The Other Authors forum

The New Fan Fic forum - unfortunetly when I moved the old forum it disappeared :(

This month I have chosen the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation as our Charity of the Month.

As many of you know my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabletes in late October so I thought it fitting that we start JDRF as our charity.

“The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the world’s largest charitable supporter of type 1 diabetes research, investing more than $150 million per year into the search to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

JDRF was founded in 1970 in the US and 1982 in Australia by a group of determined volunteers.

Internationally, JDRF has been involved in every major type 1 diabetes breakthrough of the last three decades including:

  • Islet transplantation
  • Beta cell regeneration
  • Preventative vaccine development
  • Reduction of complications

JDRF-funded researchers have driven the advancement of day-to-day disease management tools and accelerated the pace of research through a focus on five clearly defined cure therapeutic pathways that offer the best hope for a cure.

JDRF supports Australian diabetes research via the strategic provision of funding, investing over $12 million into 44 research projects across Australia in the 2007/08 financial year.

In addition to supporting research, JDRF Australia plays a key role in advising and influencing health policy direction across all levels of government and building community awareness of type 1 diabetes.

Throughout all local and international activities JDRF’s mission remains constant - to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research.”

Taken from JDRF’s website.

You can help support this charity by purchasing any of our ATM merchandise in January, purchasing an ATM mug or clicking on the Donate button in the sidebar on the ATM website.

Aussie Twilight Mums Newsletter - Dec 09

Posted by Rachel | Newsletters | Thursday 10 December 2009 11:59 pm

newsletter logo

It’s the beginning of a new month and that means it’s time for another newsletter :)

Firstly I’d like to welcome all our new members! We have had a huge jump from 300 to 447 members this month. So I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you all and  invite you to introduce yourself if you haven’t done so already. If you are unsure how to go about using the forum check for your welcome letter in the menu bar just under the forum header. It will give you some hints and tips on how to get started.

header500

NewMoonber, our month long celebration of the release of New Moon was a huge success. We gave away a stack of prizes and had lots of fun and games. I’m looking forward to doing it all again, bigger and better for the release of Eclipse in 2010!

Thanks to all our members who participated in our NewMoonber events, you all helped to make it a really enjoyable month!

I’m guessing by now that all of you have seen New Moon, I have been lucky enough to see it 3 times so far and I’m looking forward to being able to see it again in the next few weeks.

So what did you think? Come in and join in the conversation on the forum!

headerthanks

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with Lisa’s gift. Your generosity was overwhelming!

We raised enough money to have a bunch of flowers delivered and to also get her a Twilight Hamper.

ATM’s got a fair bit of media coverage in the last month. We had an article written about us in the Sydney Daily Telegraph, an article about the Melbourne ATM’s in Woman’s Day and New Idea Magazines,  Gen and myself were also seen on New Idea TV and a few of us were interviewed on various radio stations.

For a few weeks there the ATMs were everywhere in the media and as we approach the release of Eclipse in June 2010 I’m sure we will get much more media attention :)

headerplans

In 2009, I concentrated my efforts on building The Twilight Fansite and Aussie Twilight Mums was just something I worked on in the background. However now that I have TTF up and running the way I want it,  I can concentrate my efforts fully on Aussie Twilight Mums.

What does this mean for you?

Firstly there will be more updates on the website, if there is anything happening in the Twilight world you will be able to read about it on the site!

An Aussie Twilight Mums Podcast is coming, a few of us Mums have been in talks and will have a regular Podcast going in the New Year. We’ll be asking for contributors from time to time so keep your eyes out for messages about that.

There will be more chatting and fun and games on the forum!

The ATMs Book Club will be back up and running on both the forum and on the website.

We will be starting a Fan Fiction of the Month Club for all the lovers of FF :)

In March 2010 Aussie Twilight Mums will be celebrating our 1st Birthday so we will be planning a big party in Sydney and I would love as many ATMs to come together as possible. I’m hoping that this will turn into an annual event for us Mums to come together and celebrate everything that Twilight and our ATM community has bought into our lives! There will be more details coming on this in the New Year, I promise to organise it asap to give everyone plenty of notice so that hopefully we can get some interstate Mums to come and join us!

plus there will be many more exciting things happening, but you will need to stay tuned for that!

headerconnected

The best way to stay connected and get all the news and updates is to:

Follow ATMs on Twitter!

Join the ATMs Facebook Group!

Be a regular on the forum!

Visit the ATMs website often!

and read the monthly newsletters. (Past Newsletters can be found here!)

Have you checked out the New Moon Merchandise at Gifts for the Geek yet?

If not you should! Not only have they put some New Moon Merchandise up on their site for pre order but they are giving us Twilight Mums a 10% discount. Simply enter the code atmrocks during the check out process to get your discount.

headernew

There have been a few new things added to the forum this month.

Firstly, have you checked out the Christmas Thread? There are lots of different Christmas topics being discussed in there.

Also new to the forum is The Meadow!. The Meadow is a different way to chat on the forum. It is a continuous chat thread, similar to the way the Essential Baby forums are run. Each day Wendy or Tab will start a new thread for the days discussion.

You are free to join in the conversation or simply bring up something of interest to you :)

headerchat

Friday nights are our ATM Chat Nights. Chats are held in the Chatbox at the bottom of the forum homepage. They officially begin at 9pm Sydney time but there is usually an eager Mum or two in there a little earlier.

If you haven’t joined us for a chat yet, you should join us for the next one!

headerbookclub

The Aussie Twilight Mums Book Club is going to be back in the New Year bigger and better than ever. We are going to run things a little differently this year though. Instead of getting everyone to vote on a book to read, which is time consuming and limits people time wise, I will take suggestions all month long and choose one book which will become our Book of the Month. As you will see below I have picked out January’s book, so now you have all of December to purchase or borrow the book ready for next month :)

If you have any suggestions for February’s Book of the Month please email me at aussietwilightmums@gmail.com

Get your copy from The Book Depository or Fishpond now, ready to start reading in January!

Hi Aussie Twilight Mums,

Firstly I’d like to welcome our newest members to the forum. We now have 265 members, which is amazing :)

New Members, if you haven’t done so already come in and introduce yourself here.

I’m sorry that things have been a little quiet on the website lately. As many of you already know my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with  Juvenile Diabetes a little over a week ago, so I have had to have a little break from the fansites and forum while our family adjusts to our new lifestyle and learn everything we need to know. Thank you once again to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I am lucky to be part of such a wonderful caring group of Mums :)

If you have been to the Aussie Twilight Mums website lately you may have noticed a few changes. I have added a few extra things to the sidebars.

There is an up to date list of the Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse cast that are currently on Twitter. So if you are a Twitter user make sure you are following the cast. You can also follow me @TwilightMums, to get all the latest updates and happenings on the website. Be sure to send me a ‘Hello’ tweet telling me who you are and I’ll follow you right back :)

We also have a Fan Fiction section where there is a list of recommended Fan Fictions and links. This list will be updated often so keep checking back for more great FFs :)

You’ll also notice that Aussie Twilight Mums have their own Mums Twi-Network. You’ll find a list of Twi-Network sites in the sidebar. These are Twilight related blogs and websites created by our Mums. If you have a twi-related site and would like it listed please send me an email to rachel.thetwilightfansite@gmail.com with the link and a little about your site and don’t forget to go and visit the Mums in the Network.
